2014 Gig One Hundred and Thirty Four: Edinburgh Fringe

I saw this poster yesterday:

The Cuban Brothers!

I first saw this act back when I last came to the Edinburgh Fringe in 2001.  Meshel Laurie, our friend Toby, Mickey D and I were obsessed with them and saw them perform at the Gilded Balloon many a night.  So much fun and it brought back some great memories.

I had a big lunch with a bunch of friends as well.  That was a nice way to spend the day and as I stated in yesterday's blog, I feel like that is the most important part of the Fringe now.  Catch up with as many friends as possible because who knows when we'll all see each other again?

I've also had a great meeting with one of my managers and have made some decisions on next year.  More info to come your way at a later date.  The feeling I have is that after telling a straight narrative for 60 plus shows this year I'll do a completely different type of show next year.  Maybe something along the lines of my 2006 show, "Smash!"  (That is for the old school fans out there!) There might even be something in the title for you to think about...

Great show last night.  The set list was:

Johnny Loves Mary Forever 1994

Not much to report again.  The show is in such a nice and tight groove that is buzzes along and feels relatively bullet proof at the moment.  It was a good crowd and a good show. I'm already beginning to think about what I'll do next so while I'm in the moment with the show there doesn't appear at this point to be anything new to learn about the story.  Now it is all about doing the best job I can on each night and surviving the rest of the festival without getting sick or just falling over from tiredness.

After my show I went with a bunch of Aussie comedians and punters to see Dave Hughes. Great to see him outside of Australia nailing it too.  When someone is so good for such a long period of time you can inadvertently take them for granted. Seeing Hughesy last night was a good reminder that he is still one of the best the country has produced.

Another photo from my friend John Williams for you!
